The practice was started over 53 years ago by the late Kenneth H Frizzell, who after working with J L Davis and undertaking his training by cadetship, left to pursue his own thing at the age of 25.Trading as “Kenneth H. Frizzell, Regd. Surveyor”, from premises in a back room of a solicitors office in Cathedral Square, the business grew and moved from there to Kilmore Street, then Victoria Street, then to his own premises in Manchester Street , to a point that by the mid 1970’s he had a practice of 12 staff.
After an attempt at trying to retire from practicing in the 1980’s, he was forced back into the profession by a stream of loyal clients wanting him to continue doing their work.. These clients appreciated the skill, wisdom, honesty and integrity of the founder and wanted him to continue as their land development professional.
After a very brief illness in 1992, Kenneth passed away at the age of 60, leaving his son Hamish Frizzell to run the business. The practice changed it’s name to Frizzell and Associates at that time, and continued to offer the same service to the same loyal client base. Hamish purchased the business from the estate in 1995.
In 2005 the business re-branded to Survus Consultants, at which time in house engineering was added to our range of services. Hamish still owns and manages the business, and is ably supported by a staff of 14 qualified and experienced personnel.
The vision for the future is to consolidate the business into one that is not the biggest, but one that provides the best subdivision and development advice, value and service for a loyal and satisfied client base. Because of this, most of our business comes from referrals and repeat clients. Personal service is paramount to our business, and for that reason Hamish is the person who will most likely see you first in relation to subdivision advice.
